Empowering People

Computer Admissions Open

The YMCA which is committed to empower all classes of people with the vocational skills through its academy continues its work with the National Institute of open Schooling, Minstry of HRD, Govt of India which is committed to provide "Education for All" - an objective to strengthen and create opportunities for people at large to empower themselves with career making, vocational and academic educational opportunities.  The academy sets priority to help deserving youths, women, and people from economically poorer sections.

We are happy to note that the YMCA has been granted permission to conduct additional courses this year namely:

In the April-May 2008 batch in CCA out of 12 students who appeared the examination 6 students have passed out. We are indeed very happy to report that the 11th batch of the AVI-580016 (Accredited Vocational Institute) under the NIOS was officially inaugurated at a colourful and lively function held on Wednesday, 20th August 2008 at City YMCA.  Dr. Abraham Ebenezer, President, YMCA Bangalore provided a spirited and encouraging inaugural address to the 125 students who were gathered for the event.  Dr. M. Antony Isaac, Associate General Secretary, YMCA introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. S.V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA graced the occasion and inspired the students through his encouraging words. Also for the Summer Camp Computer Training and for the YMCA College of Physical Education students training were given at the centre.

Training the Differently Abled

We are also happy to inform the members that the following students who are differently abled were also trained at our centre: Arnav.S., Subash. H.S., Anil Jose, Abhilash Bhandari and Fazal( names changed).

It is our dream and vision to make the YMCA Bangalore as a Centre for Education for the poor, disadvantaged, neglected, socio economically backward sections of the society by providing Vocational and Contemporarily relevant educational opportunities which would empower them to find gainful placements and live a confident life in our society.

The YMCA Computer Academy successfully completed five years of its accreditation with the National Institute of Open Schooling, New Delhi having trained so far a total of 337 students in all the courses as on 31st December 2008.  A grand function was organized on 24th January 2009 wherein a total of 16 students were inducted new in to the Academy and 6 students were given convocation certificates and 21 students were given marks statement for having passed  in the respective examinations. Mr. S. Guru Bhakta, Chairman of the YMCA Task Group on Youth Issues graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and distributed the Certificates. The highlight of the event was the success stories of the students Anil and Abhiman (name changed) both Spastic Patients rehabilitated successfully completed their courses.  It was heartening to see them giving a witness for the Academy for the opportunity provided and co-operation and affection shown by the fellow students and the faculty.  It was also a pleasant sight to see Mr. Subramaniam, Former Officer of the BEL a student of the academy witnessed for the affection and friendly learning atmosphere provided at the Centre.  He also offered to train students on voluntary basis in the area of tally accounting system for those interested, free of cost.

Mr. S.V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary brought the felicitation remarks, Mr. Arun Kumar Karodi, Assistant General Secretary, YMCA offered Prayer, Mr. John Kennedy, Senior Secretary welcomed the gathering and Prof. T.S. Rajamani, faculty member spoke on the occasion.

Students Picnic

We are happy to report Mr. Diwakar, Faculty took the Academy students to Shivaganga on 20th December 2008, on a pleasure trip which students enjoyed.
