Cricket Academy – Team building training programme

Today's Success Mantra is 'Team Work'. Be it a game of Cricket or Management Issue, unless each player plays his role as a Team Member and complements the others' efforts, success rate will be at a low. Team Work  does not just happen, it has to be achieved, with sincere efforts. A good Team Work calls for compromises and sacrifices from all team players in order to achieve the Team Goals. Personal Goal has to be put in a back seat if Team Goals have to be achieved.  Where one puts personal goals in the front, chances are that he will eat into the Team Time resulting in heavy Team Time Loss and a consequent team failure. Team Leader assumes a very important position as he has to deal with every member jointly and severally with a higher level of diplomacy and some times deal with strong arm also in order to hold every player within the framework of the team.

Team Work demands a good Communication Flow - a Two-way process. Without an effective two-way communication, there cannot be success. Good, Effective communicator should also be a good listener. For, unless one has the ability to Listen, he cannot communicate effectively.  So, it is imperative that each of the team players learns as much of Listening Skills as much of Communication Skills - be it written, spoken or even body language.  In fact, Body Language should be used to complement the spoken communication so that it will have a better impact and elicits a better, desired response. Sharing and Caring are the key factors in an effective Team Working.

Each one should be motivated to share the feelings and care for each other so that there is a sense of belonging among the Team Players. This helps build a strong bond of mutual trust and confidence among the team players.

These were the issues brought out in the three-hour workshop in the two sesions by two renowned Trainers - Mr.Suresh Hari, partner of M/s Vishal Builders & Promoters and Mr.Sreesh R. Babu, Director of Prakruthi Ads.

While Mr. Suresh Hari is a Past Round Table National President and Rotarian Past President,  Mr.Sreesh R. Babu is a Past District Cabinet Secretary of the Lions Clubs International (District 324 D1).  Both are expert Trainers with hours of Training Credits having conducted similar workshops to varied groups (Age and Career)in different fora.

The Workshop conducted by the two was well received by the young students of the YMCA Cricket Academy and the children went home satisfied of having learnt something other that just Cricket itself that would enhance their performance.

Mr. J. Suhas, Senior Secretary, YMCA is directing the YMCA Cricket Academy
