Sir. C.V. Raman Inter Collegiate English Debate & Prof. T. Reuben Memorial Inter Collegiate Kannada Debate Competitions 2011 was jointly organized by YMCA & Rotary Bangalore Peenya.

The 26th Sir. C. V. Raman Inter Collegiate English Debate & Prof. T. Reuben Memorial Inter Collegiate Kannada Debate Competitions were held on Monday, the 21st February 2011 from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at City YMCA, Nrupathunga Road, Bangalore 560 001.

Nearly fifty participants from 25 reputed colleges, both Girls and Boys participated in this prestigious competition and shared their valuable views on the Topic given as follows:

English Debate Topic was   : “SHOULD DEMOCRACY SURVIVE IN INDIA?”

Kannada Debate Topic was : “MOULYA ADHARITHA SHIKSHANA INDINA AGATHYA”

Sir. C.V. Raman Rolling Trophy was won by KLE College of LAW

Prof. T. Reuben Memorial Rolling Shield was won by Sheshadripuram College

The programme was inaugurated by Rtn. Mohan Kumar. K. V. President, Rotary Bangalore Peenya as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering and also insisted the young generation to shoulder the responsibility of on going political crisis in the country which is deeply based on selfish motive and corruption.

Our aim is to bring about exchange in the functional politics enable to get justice and equality for the common and poor people.  Mr. M. Samson Gowder, General Manager, BESCOM was the guest of honour and presided over the function Mr. S. V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, Mrs. Pramodini Narendranath, Retired Professor graced the Occasion. Prof. T.S. Rajamani and Mr. Vijay Kumar.P.D. were also present at this function.

Valedictory Function was held at 5.00 p.m. Dr. Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Writer & Film Director, was the Chief Guest and expressed his view on the present  democracy, education and the responsibilities of the youngsters to face the new challenges which is before them.  Specially the influence of the west world, more on business oriented education system like architect, fashion technology, business management, ITBT etc.  Only 5% is given for the social science. Mr. George Samuel, Founder & Chairman, Kenneth Education Trust presided over the function.  Mr. S.V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary YMCA welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. Rtn.K. Suresh, Member, Rotary Bangalore Peenya, Mr. Maridyav Gowda Graced the Occasion.  Mr. Harish, Advocate proposed Vote of Thanks.
