The crest stands as the symbol of the ideals and the purposes underlying the work of the College. The Inverted Equilateral red triangle is the YMCA symbol. The equal sides of the triangle stood for "Man's essential unity, body, mind and spirit.' Glimpse of the College History

YMCA Bangalore commenced its activities in the year 1897 by Reverend J.W. Joss, a Christian Missionary in India, with Bible study groups and lectures of Christian community. In early 20th century, YMCA as a predominantly evangelical group worked for the strengthening of Christian community. They also initiated health oriented exercises and recreation as part of their programme. They also started several branches including central branch and fort branch under the leadership of Mr. Lovell Murray. YMCA Bangalore later started summer course in physical education and mass demonstration of physical activities. The Olympic movement had an impact on the physical education field in Bangalore also. Mr. A.C. Das Secretary YMCA Bangalore started the Olympic movement in the state of Mysore in the year 1932.

The YMCA was then the beehive of the sports activities and acted as the nucleus of sports promoting agencies in the city. Initially it was responsible for promoting and popularising games like Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Hockey. Cricket and Athletics. The state governing bodies in these games were formed through the efforts of Mr. A.C.Das, Mr. Subhan Singh, and other workers of YMCA who also conducted short term and week end courses for training physical education teachers and special training / coaching to improve the standard of sports. During those days the YMCA secretaries were deputed to go through physical education training. Mr. R.J. Solomon, General Secretary was deputed to George Williams College, Chicago.

Mr.V.C.Varkey on his return from George Williams College,  in June 1958 he took charge as General Secretary of YMCA Bangalore and established regular ten month Certificate course in Physical Education from August 1958 to train Physical Education Teachers for our state. Twenty-seven students were enrolled and offered Diploma Course for Graduates during that academic year.

Later from 80s onwards Mr. Appanna, Mr. Rajkumar Devdas; Dr. N.V. Bhatt, & A. Maleques (till date) and others were among those who served and have been serving the college.  During this time late Dr. K.J. Edward Kirbakaran and Mr. M.J.
