Bourdillon YMCA Programmes

Career Counseling Sessions

Rev. Sanjay Samuel Youth Director C.S.I. had requested to organize Career Counseling Sessions for Church Youths on 29th April 2006 at Bishop Cotton Girls' High School Auditorium at 10.00 A M Our YMCA Career Counselor Prof. T.S. Rajamani was kind enough to conduct the sessions and make aware of many different avenues in "Career Counseling to the youths.  The sessions were lively and the participants were able to gather more information during the Question hour.  Around 100 youths witnessed the programme.

Free Eye Check up Camp

With the help of Lions Club of Bangalore Orchards and Gokula, a team of expert eye surgeons conducted a free eye check up at Baldwin Methodist Kannada School on 9th August 2006. Around 1,500 people from slum community and school children checked their eyes. About 100 people were asked to wear spectacles. The Lions Club of Orchards voluntarily came forward to sponsor spectacles for the beneficiaries.

Independence Day Celebrations

The Bourdillon YMCA celebrated Independence Day on 15th August 2006 at YMCA/Gem Plaza, Infantry road, Bangalore. Mrs. Sarojini Luke, Medical Officer, Bangalore Mahanagara Palikae, hoisted the flag and delivered the Independence Day message. Mrs. Geetha Prasad, presided over the function and distributed school bags to the Children of Govt. Tamil School, Shivajinagar Bangalore. Mrs. Sheela Arthur, Teacher, Baldwin School was the Guest of Honour.  Around 100 people participated in this programme. Breakfast and tea were served to all the people including school children.

Teachers Day Programme

Teachers Day was celebrated on 5th September 2006 at Baldwin Methodist Kannada High School, Anepalya, Gajendranagar, Bangalore. Smt. Shashi Khurana, Regional Chairperson, Lions Club of Lady Bird, Bangalore, was the Chief Guest and delivered the Teachers' day message.

Sri. Ramesh Rao, District Chairman, Lions Club of Bangalore Orchards, was the Guest of Honour. Sri.Ln.M. Prabhakar Naidu and Sri. Dominick Raj were present on the occasion. Mr. S.V. Rathna Kumar, Gen. Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, was also present on the occasion. During this occasion, all teachers of Baldwin school were honoured with shawls, garlands and gifts, which were sponsored by Lions club of Bangalore Orchards and Lions club of Bangalore Gokula

Republic Day Celebrations

We deeply appreciate Rev. Kotian, Headmistress, Committee Members & Staff members of St. Andrews' Higher Primary Kannada school, Lalbagh Siddapura, Bangalore, for having agreed to celebrate Republic day on 26th January 2007 at their school premises.  At this event Mr. Praveen Ranka, Chairman, Martial Arts Trust, Bangalore., was the Chief Guest and hoisted the flag and also sponsored Geometry boxes to 7th standard children. Mr.H.F.S.Knight, Chairman YMCA Task Group of Ecology and Environment graced the occasion.  Other dignitaries include – Lions Club members of Bangalore Orchards and Gokula, M/s. Smile Group Members, Snacks and Milk were distributed to all the 500 children of that school.

Two-day workshop at Indian Institute of Science campus

A two-day workshop was organized by Indian Institute of Science of Advanced studies at J R D Auditorium campus Prof. T.S. Rajamani Member, YMCA Task Group of Ecology and Environment attended this workshop

A new Fitness Centre Inaugurated

YMCA Bourdillon branch " Fitness Centre" was inaugurated on 1st February 2007 at 5.00 P M at YMCA/Gem Plaza [Basement] Infantry Road, Bangalore. Sri. J. Alexander, I.A.S President, YMCA Bangalore inaugurated this centre. Sri. S. V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, graced the occasion. The Board members and Secretaries of YMCA Bangalore were also present. This state of the art facility includes multi-gym, electronic treadmills, Sauna and Steam bath facilities.  The Gym is open for only the members of the YMCA.  The details of the fee structure and the rules and regulations of the fitness centre can be had from Mr. Arun Kumar Karodi, Assistant General Secretary, YMCA Bourdillon Branch

Career Counseling

Career Counseling was conducted on 27th February 2007 at Gulabi High School, Nandidurg Road, Bangalore. Prof. T.S. Rajamani and Mr. Sridhar Padmanabhan, Members of YMCA Task Group of Ecology and Environment conducted the sessions to 10th standard students. Around 150 students participated. The students were given Questionnaires prepared by YMCA Bangalore just to know about their right choice of their future career so that appropriate counseling can be done to each student. Career counseling books were distributed to all children and the Career Chart tree was also exhibited to all the children.

Career Counseling was conducted on 12th July 2006 at Al-Ameen High School, Lalbagh road, Bangalore on 12th July 2006. Prof. T.S. Rajamani conducted these sessions for high school children.
