22nd Annual Summer Camp 2005

The annual summer camp was inaugurated on 10th April 2006 by Mr. Lukose Vallatharai, Chairman & M.D. Mysore paper Mills, Government of Karnataka. Mr.J. Alexander, President YMCA Bangalore presided over the inaugural function.  Mr. Murali, a young Kannada film actor was the guest of honour.  Mr.M.J. Narendranath, Former General Secretary, YMCA, Mr.N. Srinivas, Chairman, Summer camp, Mr.S.V. Rathnakumar, General Secretary and Mr. Sethu, Member of the YMCA Board participated in the function.  

The following activities were carried out during the camp:

    City YMCA:  Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Foot Ball, Basket Ball, Swimming, Karate,   Computer Basics and Internet Awareness, Fun & Creative Workshops, Shuttle, Adventure Camp, Personality Development.

    YMCA CIC Centers: K.G. Halli and Murphy Town: Cricket and Foot Ball - for CIC Children

    YMCA Rural Center: Kumbalgodu: Computer Basics and Karate

    Family YMCA: Cricket, Shuttle Badminton, Table Tennis, Karate, Western Dance, Keep fit Programme, Music (Piano)

The street children were given free training for a month in various games and sports. Thanks to Mr.B.R.Anand, B.Ramanna & sons for sponsoring free camp T shirts to the kids.

  • NIIT sponsored 300 T Shirts, 100 posters and also the certificates for the campers.
  • Medical check up was conducted to all the campers on 21st & 22nd April 2006.  Dr. Ashok Patil examined the children and provided health advice to the campers.
  • Parent child dialogue programme was organized on 10th may and Mr. Eric D.Jacob, a leadership trainer conducted the sessions.
  • Quiz competition was conducted on 5th May for the campers Mr.Prakruthi Banwasi a YMCA volunteer facilitated the event as the Quiz Master.
  • A cultural evening and talents day was organized on 6th May 2006 and many campers actively participated.
